OPERATING HOURS
CONTACT
If you have an orthodontic emergency that can wait until the next time we are in the office here are a few things to help ease your discomfort:
Poking Wire
Don’t clip it right away! Try using some wax or gishy goo over the pokey part to ease the irritation. If the wire is out of the bracket or tube, you can use tweezers to put the wire back in the bracket. If it is easily accessible you can try to clip it with some sanitized wire cutters. If not, try to get some gauze and put it in your cheeks until you can make it into the office.
Loose Bracket/Bands
Bracket: If you have a bracket that comes loose or completely off make sure to hold on to it and bring it in with you at your next appointment (not doing so may result in extra charges). If you have an appointment within the next week, give us a call and let us know that a bracket is off so we can make sure we have enough time to put it back on. If your next appointment is more than a week out give us a call to schedule an appointment sooner to get it put back on.
Band: If you are wearing headgear and a band comes loose you can discontinue your wear until you can come back into the office and get it re-cemented. If you have an expander that you are still turning, discontinue turning until you can come back into the office and get it re-cemented. If you have and expander that you are no longer turning, come back into the office and get it re-cemented
Irritations or Sores
Warm salt water always helps to clean and speed up the healing process when it comes to sores. All you need to do is mix 1 teaspoon of salt into an 8oz glass of warm water and swish it around in your mouth.
Lost or Broken Retainer
After you are finished with treatment we will give you a retainer to hold all of your teeth in place. If you happen to lose or break your retainer call us to schedule an appointment! Your teeth will start shifting back very quickly. Retainers are not cheap, so keep it in your face or in your case!!
